The youth ministry of Blacksburg Baptist Church takes seriously our church mission statement to welcome all in the spirit of Christ; grow disciples in the name of Christ; and send servants in the name of Christ. Whether we are having a time of worship or having fun playing paintball, we strive to bring to life the principles of welcoming, growing, and serving in all the activities we do. Our opportunities are broken into weekly, monthly, and yearly activities.

Sunday Morning Bible Study
  • The youth meet on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM in the Graves Ministry Center. We come together for a short time of fellowship, doughnuts and prayer, and then we break into groups to study the Bible. The hope is that we encounter God, learn to value the Bible as God's word and grow in our faith. We have amazing teachers who love our students and look forward to spending time with them each Sunday.
  • For those who are not yet ready to come to the church in-person, we also offer online life group options via Zoom for Middle School at 9:00 AM and High School at 10:00 AM. Please email Rebecca Wheeler for more information.
Sunday Night Youth Group
  • Every Sunday night from 6:00 - 7:30 PM, we gather in the Graves Youth Center to hang out, play games, worship, and support each other in small groups. Sometimes, we just meet at the church and then head out to have fun together. Each week might be a little different, but we always have a good time, and we communicate plans well in advance. Our small group leaders care deeply about our students and seek to be a part of their lives beyond just Sunday night. This is the heart of our youth ministry at BBC.
  • Every other Sunday night from 4:30 - 5:30 PM, middle and high school girls are invited to experience personal growth through Bible study and mission projects. This group meets in the church in Room 211 and then proceeds directly to Sunday night youth group activities when they're done.
Mission Project
  • Each month, we have one mission project to help our local community. A few projects we have done are packing backpacks for Micah's Backpacks, working with Habitat for Humanity, and gleaning turnips for local food banks.
  • We believe having fun together is important, which is why we always have one big fun activity a month. It is a time to invite friends and grow together. Some of the activities we have done are a trip to the trampoline park, adult vs. youth flag football and paintball.
  • Fall Retreat: Each fall, we take a break from the normal to encounter God, have fun together and just relax. The retreat usually takes place in October and is scheduled well in advance.
  • Mission Madness: A weekend mission trip that takes place in the spring.
  • Shine Girls Weekend: A retreat for the girls in the youth group who are involved in Acteens.
  • Passport Summer Camp: A great experience to grow in your relationship with God and with each other, plus we have A LOT of fun!
  • Summer Mission Trip: Every year, our high schoolers go on a mission trip to serve God and share God's love for others. Over a four-year period, a high schooler will have an opportunity to go on a mission trip to a major city, work on a construction project, travel internationally, and serve in Virginia.
