Dr. Thomas McDearisDr. Thomas R. (Tommy)  McDearis

Tommy, as he is known to all ages, is a loyal husband, father, minister and friend who has served as BBC's senior pastor since 1997.  A caring and gregarious person, he is known for his passionate faith, jovial sense of humor, commitment to personal outreach, and his community, social and denominational activism.  Tommy is a dynamic communicator who presents positive, biblically-based messages through scriptural exposition and storytelling.  In addition to his interpersonal ministry style, Tommy also holds multiple academic degrees including an earned doctorate in pastoral ministry and applied theology, and training in clinical pastoral counseling from Southeastern Seminary, Wake Forest, NC and the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center School of Clinical Pastoral Education.  Tommy is married to his college sweetheart, Susan Harris McDearis, who has been the love of his life since 1979.  Susan is a special needs instructor for the Montgomery County School System.  She and Tommy have three adult children, Brandon, Eric, and Kathryn, who they cherish and adore.  
 

Rev. Todd MillsapsRev. Todd Millsaps

Todd Millsaps serves along side Tommy McDearis in leadership for BBC.  Prior to joining our team, Todd served as Senior Pastor of Spray Baptist Church in Eden, NC, where he led his church in an amazing time of renewal, transformation and growth.  Prior to his service in NC, Todd served congregations in Virginia, including a time as Senior Pastor of the Pearisburg Baptist Church, Pearisburg, VA.  Todd is also a dynamic communicator with a talent for biblical exposition.  Thus, Todd also serves as another of our church's teaching pastors.  A native of Radford, VA, Todd attended Radford University, earning his baccalaureate degree as well as a masters degree in clinical counseling.  After serving a decade as a counselor and in adjunctive professorships at New River Community College and Radford University, Todd answered a call to ministry.  This call led him to attend the Baptist Theological Seminary of Richmond, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree.  Todd possesses a warm and welcoming personality plus a strong intellect.  He is an innovative and creative leader who is also blessed with a pastor's heart.  It is no surprise that he has been so successful in service to Christ.  Todd is married to Diana Millsaps, whom he met in the Singles Ministry at First Baptist Church, Richmond, VA. They have two delightful sons, Christian and Elijah. 


Rev. Gregory HarrellRev. Gregory Harrell
Youth Minister

Greg Harrell is an ordained minister who serves as BBC's Pastor to Youth and Youth Families.  A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Greg received his bachelors degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  He then completed his Master of Divinity degree at the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, VA.  Prior to joining our ministry team, Greg served with Passport Youth Camps.  He also served as a member of the ministry staff at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Richmond.  Greg's wife, Melanie, is a public school teacher in Roanoke.  They reside in Christiansburg, VA.   
 

Charlotte SmithCharlotte Smith
Music Minister

Charlotte Smith is a licensed minister who serves as BBC's Minister of Music and Worship.  Prior to joining our team, Charlotte served for 24 years as a public school music teacher at Christiansburg (VA) High School, and she served 19 years as Minister of Music at Main Street Baptist Church in Christiansburg. Charlotte received her bachelors degree in music from Radford University.  A career musician and a life-long Christian, Charlotte has a statewide reputation for excellence in music education and music ministry.Charlotte's husband, Steve, is employed by the Montgomery County Public Schools.  They have two adult children, Emily and Ben, as well as a wonderful daughter-in-law, Ellie. 
 
 
Kelly SardelloKelly Sardello
Director of Children and Family Ministries

Kelly Sardello joined the staff of BBC in the spring of 2005.  Having joined the church in 1990, Kelly served previously as a dedicated volunteer in the children’s ministry since, having served on the nursery committee and having coordinated that ministry.  She also served on the Children’s Ministry Team, was a founder and coordinator of our MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) program, and she was a MOPS Bible Study leader.  Kelly also twice served as our Vacation Bible School Director, she was a VBS teacher for 12 years and she was a Sunday School teacher from 1997-2005.  A graduate of Texas Tech University, Kelly holds degrees in Public Relations and Spanish.  She was a stay-at-home mom for 12 years.  She has two children, Jackson and Jordan. Her husband of 20 years, Joe, is an engineer for Kroger who teaches Sunday School and is a drummer for our BBC Praise Band.
